Hello Magical Friend!
In this week’s dose of Akashic Goodness, the Keepers of the Akashic Records offer us:
When transformation comes, you reserve the right to not like it.
When the Keepers of the Akashic Records use the word “transformation” here, it can mean a lot of things. I invite you to let it land in you however it feels most relevant. Perhaps it’s an inner transformation of growth, healing, or evolution. Perhaps it’s an external transformation of change in an area of your life. Maybe it means something else entirely to you. However “transformation” lands for you right now, the Keepers are saying that when transformation is in process, you reserve the right to not like it.
To me, this is a super interesting and odd sentence.
If you’re someone who enjoys or invests time and energy into “personal growth,” “healing,” or inner inquiry of any kind (using all of those phrases very loosely, as they might mean different things to different people), then transformation might be something that you actively seek or desire.
If that’s the case, why is it that the Records are telling us that we’re allowed to not like it? Why wouldn’t we like the thing that we’ve been actively working towards and desiring?
The Keepers of the Records aren’t saying that transformation will feel bad or unpleasant - this is not a future prediction in any capacity. However, through this perspective they are inviting spaciousness into our idea of how transformation might feel.
We can desire change in ourselves or our lives and still not like the process of change as it occurs.
You can want transformation and not like transformation at the same time.
This doesn’t mean that you want something unpleasant to happen to you - the Keepers are saying that we can want something in ourselves or in our lives to be different than it is right now AND we are allowed to not enjoy every moment of the process of transformation.
Why would the Records remind us that we “reserve the right” to not like the process of transformation (even if we’re actively seeking transformation of any kind in our lives)?
The process of transformation is taxing in and of itself.
The process of one thing becoming an entirely new thing is already a huge endeavor that takes time, energy, and usually effort if not patience.
If transformation is already challenging enough on its own, we don’t need to make it harder on ourselves by trying to force ourselves to like it if we don’t.
Experiencing inner transformation is hard enough. We don’t need to make it harder on ourselves for no reason.
That’s why the Keepers are taking the time to remind us that we reserve the right to not like the process of transformation.
That is to say, we are allowed to feel however we feel at any given moment in time (transformation or not).
When we try to force a feeling, in any circumstance, we are expending a lot of energy. It takes a LOT of energy to suppress what you’re actually feeling and try to force a totally different feeling on top of it.
You’ve probably experienced this at some point. The energy it takes to smile when you’re actually sad. The energy it takes to act like you’re calm (or to convince yourself that you’re calm) when you’re actually mad.
The Records don’t want us to do that to ourselves at any moment, but they especially don’t want us to be exerting that much energy on forcing emotions during a time that is already energetically taxing.
The Keepers know that it is hard to undergo transformation, whether we seek it or not, and they want us to remember that we are allowed to feel how we feel about it so that the process can be a little more comfortable.
They want us to be sweet to ourselves, if we can be. To give ourselves permission to feel how we actually feel, so we aren’t exhausting ourselves during an already challenging moment. Being honest about how we feel preserves our energy, and is one way to treat our energy, and ourselves, with respect and care. Not forcing ourselves to like something when we don’t actually like it prevents us from wasting precious energy and can help the process of transformation feel smoother and more easeful. If you are someone who is constantly evolving and transforming, this perspective might be worth exploring! Learning how to move through transformation with as much ease as possible (at least not making it harder on yourself) can help transformation feel more sustainable in the long run.
That’s why they’re offering us this perspective to contemplate this week - so that we might create a little bit more space for grace and ease during times that are already potentially challenging.
You can dive deeper into this Akashic perspective by watching the video and/or engaging with the journal prompts below.

Contemplation Question / Journal Prompt:
Where in your life (internally or externally) are you seeking or experiencing transformation of any kind? (It doesn’t have to be big.)
How are you feeling in the midst of this process of change? (Remember you are invited to be honest here, knowing that all emotions are welcome - you’re allowed to not like it AND you’re allowed to like it😊)
Notice how it feels to just honestly name your emotion at this moment.
If you do spend time journaling on or contemplating this question, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to share your reflection on the contemplation question in the comments!
